http://geocities.com/obaby0o/APshowsLSU1.html AP poll Shows LSU is #1 If you spend a little time looking at the final AP poll for the 2003/2004 football season a clear picture emerges, like when you stare at an Escher print. The black geese fade into the background; the white geese are suddenly vivid, flying in the opposite direction.* You've probably seen similar computer-generated 3-D art.* Stare at it and you finally see the spaceship, which at first glance was lost in the swirl. Look awhile at The Associated Press college football final poll for 2003, and it proves in yet another way that LSU is No. 1.* No need to consult BCS computers. No need to calculate schedule strength. No need to compare quality victories and losses. The final AP poll does it simply on its own. It shows that LSU is the undisputed national champion. The explanation atop the AP poll reads, "The Top 25 teams in The Associated Press college football final poll." The text explains that a team receives 25 points for a first-place vote, 24 points for a second-place vote, and so on through the one point for a 25th-place vote. The University of Southern California defeated two teams in the AP Top 25: No. 6 Michigan and No. 9 Washington State. Using AP's own point system, Michigan merits 20 points, Washington State 17.* Those 2 teams are the AP top 25 teams which USC had wins against. This awards 37 quality win points to USC, 20 + 17 = 37. LSU has four victories over teams in the AP Top 25. The Tigers beat No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 7 Georgia (twice) and No. 13 Ole Miss.* Using AP's own point system, Oklahoma merits 23 points, Georgia 38 (19 times 2) and Ole Miss 13.* 19 + 13 + 19 + 23 = 74. The AP system as you can see, awarded 74 points to LSU.* For the AP folks who obviously do not understand the most basic math, LSU 74 to USC 37 is a blowout victory for LSU as scored by the AP’s own system.* The numbers do not lie, but the AP poll putting USC at #1 obviously does. Those numbers are the AP's own point values for a single vote.* These numbers were not taken from the BCS rankings or the Coaches Poll or some other poll; they are the AP point numbers.* The AP’s own numbers from their own system exposes their bias, prejudice, and bigotry against colleges from the south like LSU. Now, let's measure the teams by the total points from the AP's 65 voting members. Michigan and Washington State, the AP's ranked teams that lost to USC, netted a combined 2,341 poll points. Oklahoma, Georgia (twice) and Ole Miss, the ranked teams that lost to LSU, netted 4,831 poll points. Even if you count Georgia only once, you still have a landslide for LSU. So much for quality victories, what about losses ? LSU's only loss was to Florida, ranked No. 24 in the final AP poll, although much better in earlier AP polls, and who played far more ranked teams than USC.* With a rank of 24, two points go to Florida.* USC's only loss was to unranked Cal, so no points by the AP point value system. Cal isn't even on the list of the other 10 teams that received votes in the poll. Auburn, which lost to both LSU and USC, is fifth on that list. Arkansas, which lost to LSU, is second. Oregon State, which lost to USC, is sixth.* Last on that list is UConn, whose two poll points are two more than Cal received. Using the AP poll as a measure, LSU has far more quality wins and didn't lose to an unranked team. USC has fewer quality wins and lost to an unranked team. Did AP poll voters even consider their own completed ballots, and the glaring inconsistencies they revealed, before phoning them in to the AP ?* Were they trying to shoot themselves in the foot ?** Were they trying to remove the last speck of credibility from the AP poll ?* Were they trying to stain the Media’s poor reputation even more ?* Was the AP poll sabotaged ?* Were the AP pollsters drunk ?* insane ?* tripping ? Forget that NFL scouts said LSU and Oklahoma are better than USC. Forget that LSU played in two championship games and won both, that Oklahoma played in two and lost both, and that USC played in none, zero, nada. Never mind that LSU (13-1) had the best record in the country and had to put itself on the line one more time than USC (12-1) -- and in 2 championship games no less, and had wins in 3 top-five* games while USC had only one such win.* Forget that the BCS rankings and rules were the official system that all major colleges and conferences had agreed to and committed to, which was in place for several years prior; that USC was also formally and legally bound to following these rules and this system.* Never mind changing the rules in the middle of the games.* Forget that USC and all the major colleges had previously agreed to the BCS system.* Forget how unethical it is to break the rules, try to cheat, and pretend USC won the championship.* Forget that Boise State had the same number of losses as USC and faced closer to the same level of competition as USC than USC did in comparison to OU, LSU, or Florida, but Boise State was ranked #16; but to be consistent the AP top 25 would have to rank USC only slightly better than Boise State. Never mind how many losses USC might have had if USC played as many top 25 opposition level games as LSU, OU, or Florida played. Never mind that the Media claims they report the news instead of create it like they tried to create it with the bogus AP poll of 2003/4.* If the Media actually did just report the news, what they would have to report would be the official BCS championship, of the colleges, by the colleges, for the colleges.* Instead the Media reports its own news, of the media, by the media, for the media, by the liberals, for the liberals. Forget all that - Just look at the final AP poll for the 2003 season.* It clearly shows LSU is #1 on its own. The longer you look at it, the more obvious it becomes that LSU was far better than USC.* Its also clear that the Media cannot possibly be so stupid that they cannot even do basic 2nd grade math such as counting and addition; the only possible explanation is media dishonesty, bias, bigotry, and favoritism for liberal colleges and the liberal media hatred of southern colleges like LSU and of the South in general. AP voters will probably use the biased AP poll for 2003 as a starting point for filling out a preseason ballot for 2004 so expect the initial 2004 AP poll to unfairly favor the liberal colleges like USC.* Ten years from now, from top to bottom, the final AP poll for the 2003/4 season will speak even louder about which teams are on it, which teams are not, what it says, and what it does not say. The AP poll also showcases the bias, madness, and prejudice of the Media for the liberal media colleges such as USC, and how the Media has no credibility and should not be trusted.* The AP poll is another glaring example of why the media polls should be excluded or reduced from any influence on the BCS ranking system.* No wonder the AP pollsters hate computers; the computers don’t know how to lie and cheat and computers have no bigoted preference for liberal colleges. The AP poll shows that LSU is the undisputed national champion as much as there ever has been or ever could be one.* There will always be some idiots to dispute any championship from any year.* Some fool always says team X is the champ instead of team Y, so all championships are disputed as far as disputes go.* Depending on which poll source is referenced, one can find umpteen different teams listed as the national champion for each year for the last 75 years.* An AP Media poll is like a cow patty – it stinks, but it happens.* Fortunately for LSU, they won the official BCS national championship, not just another stinking media poll. In addition to the BCS rankings, the Coaches Poll, and other polls, save the final AP Top 25 poll also.* The AP poll inadvertently proved that LSU has the undisputed national championship.* If you have trouble finding a copy of this AP poll try looking under NEWS OF THE STUPID.* At least the AP poll is good for a laugh.
The AP poll rendered itself irrelevant when writers admitted in their own columns (on several occasions) that they'd only vote the winner of the Sugar Bowl #1 if USC were beaten by Michigan. And they even went so far as to explain that they'd vote for Michigan if they blew away USC and the LSU/OU tilt were a close game. They only scenario in which they'd even consider voting a team from the Official National Championship game as the #1 was if Michigan beat USC in a sloppy, close game and the winner of the Sugar Bowl won in a big way. The AP poll has gone the way of the dinosaur and Lou Holtz' coaching.
Good read :thumb: :thumb: It was a mistake for the BCS forumla to be changed....:dis: :dis: :dis: I really hope that they will do someting about it in the near future
