    If you have to sit outside in your car to puff a Doobie we already know who wears the pants

    I have used one, but never bought one. I doesn't seem like a good value and frankly, the coffee it makes doesn't compare to a french press.

    If you really wanted to know, you could have asked and I would have freely given you that information. I have pants, but not the ones you speak of.

    Yeah, the stepdaughter was saying over the holidays that she wanted to take a buddy to Starbucks and get her a coffee to thank her for something. In all innocence (in my flu-addled state) I looked at her and asked, "But I thought you wanted to get her coffee." "Yes, I do." "Then why are you going to Starbucks."

    I got the whitegirl stare. It made my day.

    How should I refer to her? The occasionally funny economic drain?

    @tirk Why thank you.

    I actually have to give my stepdaughter credit. She's smart, funny and not afraid of hard work. She held two part time jobs over the summer, went to Europe for a couple of weeks and did her fourth session at surf camp where they offered her a counseling gig for the upcoming summer.

    She'll graduate high school in May with honors, having earned about 20 hours of college credit thanks to dual enrollment, and has been accepted at LSU but is waiting to hear from a couple of out-of-state "dream" schools before she makes a decision.

    To top it off, she's absolutely beautiful and is developing into a strong young woman. A couple of months ago she started going out with a guy she was really interested in. It didn't hurt that I really liked the kid too -- courteous, well-dressed, just a nice kid. A few weeks after they started going out, she heard he was making out with some girl at VooDoo Fest. She confronted him, he admitted it and she kicked him to the curb. Good for her.
