i wasnt the one complaining about it so i dont happen to have the answers. the link gave zero details about it.
what exactly is the us giving them a loan for? deep drilling? where? for what purpose? (hopefully to figure out how to do it safely). are they qualified? how is this different from the normal operation of fed gov?
Well, you say the administration is justified in shutting down gulf drilling because of safety issues. How do you explain the hypocrisy of encouraging the same activity in Brazil? You just ignore it and focus on the gulf? That's crazy.
It has been stated, and you could look it up yourself. But since you won't: President Obama Finances Offshore Drilling in Brazil - WSJ.com How does this not fly in the face of the administration's justification for the current Gulf moratorium? Please explain to me why it is not ok here, but it is ok in Brazil? And it is relevant because we are paying for it.
Re: Judge Blocks Obama's Moratorium This is getting interesting. Can he block this crap ass health plan too please..
Re: Judge Blocks Obama's Moratorium Additional Info: Federal judge blocks drilling moratorium in Gulf – This Just In - CNN.com Blogs http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100622/ap_on_bi_ge/us_gulf_oil_spill They are going to start appealing immediately.. Re: Judge Blocks Obama's Moratorium this is great stuff... FOXNews.com - Federal Judge Blocks Obama's Offshore Drilling Moratorium in Gulf of Mexico ...Several companies that ferry people and supplies and provide other services to offshore drilling rigs asked U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman in New Orleans to overturn the moratorium, arguing it was arbitrarily imposed. Feldman agreed, saying in his ruling the Interior Department seemed to assume that because one rig failed, all companies and rigs doing deepwater drilling pose an imminent danger. "An invalid agency decision to suspend drilling of wells in depths of over 500 feet simply cannot justify the immeasurable effect on the plaintiffs, the local economy, the Gulf region, and the critical present-day aspect of the availability of domestic energy in this country," Feldman wrote...
you really need to chill. stop jumping to conclusions and just have a nice informative debate. i dont know if their should be drilling moratorium, but in response to the many gasping posters i bring up explanations that make sense based on what i know. only once has anyone addressed about backup safety measures (apparantly not uniquely used by bp) not functioning--that explanation seemed reasonable, but more conjecture. everyone else just says they should put more inspectors on the rigs. is the drilling in brazil the same activity as done by deepwater horizon? it is not off US waters. it doesnt seem like the UK has much regulation over the deepwater horizon. thats the US's job, evidently. brazil has at least some safer practices---the famous remote activation is required there. maybe they also require precautionary drilling of relief wells, too, but you wouldnt know. youd prefer to fly off the handle about a sentence or two.
Re: Judge Blocks Obama's Moratorium I am a little surprised as I have heard this judge is a bit liberal. Guess the home team means more. Hope this puts pressure on Obama to back off.
