Which route to take from N.O.?

North to Birmingham or South to Montgomery

  2. From NO, I'd head to Montgomery.

    Montgomery

Interstate 85 is in much better shape from Montgomery to ATL than I-20 is coming across from Birmingham. I-20 has road construction and just plain bad road.

Interstate is not going to be an issue, if you were getting off and driving around NOLA - that could be a problem

I'd do the Montgomery route - if you leave at 4 you should see no traffic till you get to Montgomery.
