Tiger is the name reserved for the official "War Eagle" which has to be a golden eagle. Since Tiger VI hasn't officially retired, the golden eagle in waiting still called Nova. Spirit is another thing altogether.
One of the coolest things in College Sports is that Eagle flying. Its a cool site. Wish I was there to see it.
Tiger VI is 26 years old now. She's getting up there. I think she's going to do more ceremonial things like hang out on the sideline near the student's section until she retires. Yeah, that's what normally happens. When they assume the role of the official mascot, they are renamed. Nova would be Tiger VII.
in a related note.... Tiger, the Bald Eagle, will be flying at Ralph “Shug” Jordan(CLiff)-Hare Stadium in front of the Auburn Plainsmen/Tigers....War Eagle fans. let's play the name game.
You know, I've always thought that stuff was funny. We all know the history behind it, but it still amazes me that AU couldn't just settle on a mascot or nickname.
In anticipation of such comments, we trained all of the birds to take a crap while flying over the visitor's section.
