This article really sums up the situation well from both angles. Although there is really nothing new here. It will be interesting watch this thread today to see who only focus on the negative and whines or sees only the positives and bitches.
I don't see him as on the hotseat. Some fans look at it that way but as far as the majority and the athletic dept is concerned things are fine. For a coach to be running a clean program and putting the team in the position to be successful I couldn't for the life of me figure out how anyone could say his job is on the line at the moment.
If the offense doesn't improve to the middle of the pack in the SEC, that seat will be more than a little warm.
I’ve always liked Miles. When he nuts up and goes all out and succeed, (i.e. Matt Flynn tossing Byrd the game winning pass vs Auburn the national championship year) everyone loves him. When he is trying to put a last minute drive together and f**ks up (i.e. clock mismanagement) people want his head on a platter. The facts are he took us too our second BCS championship and finish with 9 win seasons since he has been here. He is a good coach, if it is in the works to get rid of him there better be a contingency plan to replace him with a quality coach or we will end up like Tennessee.
i see his seat as getting toasty, but not hot. i think this year will determines whether it cooles down or the heat level gets turned up. imo, a few things need to happen, and not necessarily a stellar year in terms of wins/losses. one, there has to be improvement on the field. less confusion, an improved o-line, qb play improving (to show that qb's are being developed, not stagnant), and the overall energy level higher. two, no major boneheaded coaching moves, ala ole miss. gaffs happen. but major brain meltdowns, no. three, asst coaching needs to be more cohesive. if part of the offensive problem last year was assts not being in agreement or fighting amongst each other, then les needs to get his assts on the same page so there can be a more coordinated game plan. for some reason, i am thinking i heard that not all the offensive coaches were on the same page last year. if that is true, it showed. if those things happen, the w/l record will be good. maybe not stellar, but good. imo, if those things happen then les is righting the ship and deserves the chance to show continuing improvement.
