I don't know about you but the amount of yelling and talking head pundits is grating on my nerves on ESPN. Maybe the average Joe likes all this but it is getting to be abnoxious and aggrivating. Normal debate and discussions are becoming a rarity. This article sort of sums up what I'm feeling.

I don't mind the occasional yell fest on ESPN, maybe have one show that does this but we don't need 10 shows the let these arrogant talking head pundits spew their opinion at high decibels while trying to out do the opponent. Just had to get on my soapbox for a minute.

One more thing somebody tell Stephen A Smith is not at church when he does his show. He sounds like a freakin preacher and tries to get the crowd going with his messages and smooth talking. Can anyone be more obnoxious and arrogant and irritating?

    Interesting article...

While I think some of the TV personalities are just blowhards, there are certainly quite a few that I appreciate. Skip Bayless and Woody Paige are clearly just entertainers now, with very little to add from a sports journalism perspective.

It's unfortunate that Kornheiser's column has suffered (and it really has), but that's not a big deal to me.

Some of this sounds like sour grapes from TJ Simers. THe Sports Reporters has ALWAYS been contentious. Think back to the good ole days when John Conlan and Mike Lupica would go at it. Hell, that was my favorite show as a kid, and my first real exposure to normal sports writers (before their big celebrity.)

I dunno...if people don't like Stephen A Smith, change the channel. His monologues generally don't interest me, but the guy gets A-list guests with regularity, and I like his interviewing style.

In Houston, Richard Justice and John McClain continue to carry the torch on good writing (even if the former is often wrong...at least he's candid.) Maybe we're just lucky in Houston...
