1. something i haven't heard discussed (sorry if i missed it)
has there been a rule change since '02?

remember the bluegrass miracle. by rule we had to attempt the PAT because our lead was less than 3 pts.

a blocked kicked returned the other way (snap over holders head, etc) would have resulted in a tie game and overtime.

so with only a two point lead, why were we not required to line up for the PAT?
  2. Good question anxious to hear cause I'm not sure.
  3. Didn't it look like LSU was trying to get the team together for the extra point? I wonder too?
  4. The only rule that applies to this situation is this:

1984--PAT may be eliminated at end of game if both captains agree.
  5. ahh. so we could have said "if you make us snap it, we're just gonna take a knee"
  6. Dam, possibly Nootch's best thread and you kill it in 3.
  7. From what I've heard, Dooley was so upset that he said he wasn't going to field a team for the extra point.
  8. must have been something to this effect because they did appear to be setting up for the extra point (or it was mentioned) and then nothing came of it
  9. We should've lined up and gone for two just to piss him off more. Of course, it would've taken an eternity to get the play called.
    1 person likes this.

  10. the CBS guys didn't mention it directly, but they stayed on air for a while, and then said in a shocked sounding tone "now they're saying the game is over"

you could also hear Dan Borne' saying that over the PA system.

kinda glad i got an answer, because none of us at work knew the reason it didn't happen.
