1. Not that I am a proponent of Herbstreit; last night on ESPN Holtz and Herbstreit were talking about human voters considerations in how they would or should vote. Holtz mentioned one key factor as Michigan having had their shot at Ohio State; whereas Herbstreit stressed that this SHOULD NOT be a consideration, but rather the voters should vote for what they consider as the two best teams in the nation to face off in the NC game. In the purist sense, I would tend to agree with him.
  2. mich would be ranked #3 so i think the rose still wants the highest ranked teams it can get. plus the big 10 relationship.
  3. This is why we need a playoff system, in my opinion Max is totally wrong.
Some of his arguments don't hold water in his thread!
College football in the dark ages!
  4. Sorry, but my first loyalty is with LSU, then to the SEC.
  5. i think if we have a playoff system it will be some top 4 playoff type system which still invites the same controvery of people being left out who are ranked below the top 4

theres no way we can have an nfl style 12 team playoff. that takes 5 weeks and these are kids in school.

i think when you have 1 loss teams all vying for a spot you have to just let a computer ranking system do it and get it over with. somebody will get screwed but thats just the way it goes. theres always the argument that if you didnt want to get screwed you would have won that 1 game that you lost.
  6. I'm glad that you feel that way.
  7. And you know how often those guys are correct. Guys sometimes you need to stop and smell the roses (pun slighly intended.) Russel has a great point in that article. The SEC plays SLOPPY ball and it's quite possible that the SEC is its own worst enemy. The SEC's defenses are just too tough on the respective offenses. Michigan may have lost to OSU and it may have been "close" because of OSU turnovers, but you know what? Is there ANY doubt that OSU is the best team in country? Did anyone honestly expect UM to even be as close as they were in that game? I hate to say it, but the reason that the SEC receives so much hostility is that the teams are too strong and balanced from top-to-bottom. It's inevitable, even the mighty Roman Empire had its downfalls, and incidentally, we all know what happened...
  8. Because it would be cheaper to get to the game maybe... but the Sugar is practically a home game, and no one in the SEC ever goes to the Rose. I dont see how it is a GREAT consolation, but I agree that it is much better than the capital one (or last years bump to the Peach).
  9. Informal poll: assuming you've watched Michigan and Florida both play a couple of times, which looks like the better team?
  10. Good question and you'd have to consider their competition but pretty close to me. Michigan probably a little more consistent on both sides of the ball IMO.
