I heard that Mauck and half the team had the flu last Saturday. Any truth to that?

I heard Mauck had a 103 temp. before gametime.

I think I read that one of our linemen was getting IV fluids before the game. Not sure about the validity of that.

Apparently Whitworth had a case of food poisoning.

Heard the same thing as well. Also, the CBS commentators said something about people being sick (they mentioned Withworth getting IV fluids).

I heard that about Mauck too...but I would have thought that would have come out as more than just a rumor? Can anyone confirm this?

Saban doesn't strike me as the kind of coach that would release something to the effects of, "Our team is sick so if we don't play well then that's our excuse", to the media. It happens but you have to play through it so why even announce it.

I thought they said that Reed had the flu and had to get fluids before the game. I've read that there has been a virus or something going around the team for the past couple weeks in the Advocate.

If this is the case, it makes me feel a little better about our offensive performance and a whole lot more greatful that we escaped with a win.

Well, I remember that Henderson had it early in the week and I think that he was held out of practice as a result. If he had it on Monday and then Witworth had it on Saturday, I wonder how many more players had it? I also heard a report that the flu vaccine that was developed for this year does not contain the vaccine for the flu that is the most common right now.
