I have to be honest, I really didn't think we had much of a chance with Flynn. I said it would be 17-14 LSU. I was extremely nervous....BUT OH MY!!! Matt had the confidence and composure that we need as a QB. He really didn't make any bad decisions...dropped back, scanned the field, and if no one was open in 3 seconds, he was gone. He was extremely accurate and very poised. Like the commentators said...he was just "layed back". I'm so happy he's part of our team. I believe there's going to be one hell of a QB battle in the offseason, but from what I saw, Matt is simply better. Matt showed stuff in one game that Russel didn't show us all season. Congrats Matt Flynn! :thumb:
Flynn played well, but Jo Addai is the reason LSU won. Don't fool yourself if JaMarcus had a healthy Addai and if JaMarcus was healthy himself this would have been the kind of games LSU would have had all year long.
First, congratulations on a great win... your best performance of the year by far. Your offensive line won that game, pure dominance. And, yes, the pendulum will swing all the way to the right with the win... probably a little too far right, as it did for us last year, but "what the hell, enjoy it!!" And enjoy your coach... he's done a great job, despite some of the poster bashing (which is what posters do best)....The best news is the LSU program will now have the arrow pointing up with the media. How would you like to be a Michigan, Miami or FSU fan between now and next fall? They'll be taking a well deserved bashing. Your future is glaringly bright.
I agree that a healthy Addai was huge--what a difference! Imagine how differently our season would've gone with Broussard in the mix, as well.
addai was great but I don't think he is 100% yet, just my Opinion. which is scarry, what if he was? I saw him limping several times. When your offensive line is blowing holes, hester can win a game like this for you... did you notice how well he ran? People People People, even the players have said it, some of you just cant admit it, won't swallow that old pride. Matt flynn exudes that kind of confidance in the huddle that makes his team BELIEVE. very important. not saying JR wouldn't have won, just saying when you have a leader, the WHOLE team PLAYS better. write it off anyway you want but IF the team comes out and says it and MILES saw it, and all the announcers saw it, ESPN saw it, and a lil boy in china saw it, I'd say those people here are just well *shrugs* stubborn.
There was something different about the whole team last night with Matt running the show. And not one illegal grounding penalties against us!!
I have always been impressed with Matt Flynn with his decision to come to LSU and confidence in competing despite the recruitment of the higher ranked JR. I have been hoping the whole season he gets his chance to play. I felt he got short changed even in the North Texas and Appalachian States games that he got to come in only later in the game when JR should have put the game away earlier. His confidence spreaded among the entire offensive unit last night. Just freaking awesome. Watching his game last night gave me a high close to that of the 2003 NC game. Of course, Addai should be the co MVP! ________ YAMAHA RD500LC HISTORY
Yea, that's the best way to say it. I was telling my wife the entire game "there's something different about this team". Sure Jo was playing extremely well, but the leader is what was different. Matt brought that team out from the very beginning...that's what the difference was. They had confidence in him and it showed. We played pretty darn good games during the season, but last night's team was completely different. We smacked the hell out of Miami! Something every team in the country wants to do. I believe we'll be in the top 5 at the beginning of the season.
So if you don't believe Flynn is automatically, 100% the starter for all of next year you are stubborn? :hihi:
He may not have clinched the starting spot, but he without a doubt earned a fair shot at it for next year. Did anyone hear the annoucers on ESPN radio last night say something about JR's wrist? They said it was more serious than the shoulder and he may miss some of spring practices. Can anyone confirm this?
