If a player has the ball and puts both hands down and hte ball touches the ground, is he down... i would think so..?
i dont think so since the center has one or both hands on the ball when he snaps it plus I think a body part has to touch for the ball to be dead other than hands or feet. its like rolling over guys in a pile if his body doesnt touch, then he can continue til his ass touches or til his progression stops. i also dont understand how a fake fg or even a normal fg is legit if the holder has his knee on the ground when he gets possession of the ball yet he can get up and run or whatever. he should be down and have to hold the ball squatting or something for it to count. so all kicks should be dead before they are actually kicked. of course im sure there are special rules regarding this.
His hands can touch the ground without him being down, but when the ball, an elbow, a knee or his head comes in contact with the ground, he is Down.
The ball can touch the ground as long as no other body part, except hands and feet, touches the ground at the same time. A player stumbling can place the ball on the ground to help regain his balance. Should the ball come lose, it would be a fumble.
He would not be down in this scenario......the knee, elbow, but shoulder, head, or back must be down. hand does not count.
