My girlfriend is starting the Mass Comm masters program this fall. I was wondering if anyone knew how student tickets work nowadays.

When I was in the MBA program in 2004 they just asked who wanted tickets and we signed up. We could get two tickets each. Then you could upgrade one to a guest ticket for non students. Is that still the case?

I know a lot has changed with the process so I wanted to make sure she signs up or requests them correctly.

I don't know how yall ended up with 2 tickets a piece for every home game, but the home ticket package is basically the same for grad students as it is for undergrads. Grad students get top ticket priority along with seniors (at least that's been the case as long as I've been in grad school at LSU). You can still upgrade extra student tickets to a guest ticket for certain games for a fee, however the ticket office will not allow you to do this for the big, high-demand games. For example, there's no way I see them allowing ticket upgrades for the Florida game. You'll be notified which games are upgradeable.

Also, for the first time 2 years ago, LSU gave us the option of buying a ticket package with or without the post-Thanksgiving Arky game. Now that this game is being moved to Saturday, I'm not sure whether they'll continue to do this.

They don't always get top pick with Seniors although that's what we were told. I went through the MBA program for the 2006 and 2007 football seasons. In 06, some of the first year students couldn't get tickets when they went online. The athletic department told them because they didn't have a prior LSU degree or record, that they would have to wait in line till freshmen could order.

You need to check the schedule for ordering in July, and I would suggest having her try and order them with the "graduating seniors" and see if she can get them then. You have to order them through LSUSports.net now.

I know getting spouse tickets is not the same as back then so she may not be able to to get any for you.

Damn that sucks. We had our own section and they would ask everyone in orientation if they wanted one or two tickets. I actually asked a few people that we just getting one for their extra so I ended up with like 4 to each game. You just had to walk over to the ticket office to upgrade for like $20.

Yeah, the MBA program lost their reserved seats a year or two later. I forget the exact reason but think it had to do with athletics giving more tickets to the greeks.

I'd suggest talking to the athletic department and whoever else now before tickets go on sale to see if they can get her squared away to order with the first group.

Wouldn't surprise me. The student section has been overrun by Greeks the past couple of years.
