My first game in Tiger Stadium. Any wonder I bleed Purple and Gold?

We still run draws out of the shotgun way too much for my liking.

I was in Tiger Band, so there are a LOT of memories there, but I also remember standing in line on the sidewalk beside Allen Hall waiting to register, and seeing a guy just walk to the front of the line. It was Bert Jones, and that day I discovered one of the perks for the football players.....

That was also the year TGBFTL won the All-American band contest, so we went to the Orange Bowl where Nebraska beat us 17 (or 16?) to 12, and then the band flew to the Shrine game in Oakland early the next morning to march at halftime. I also remember how Chevrolet took care of us pretty well, and how exciting it was when we found out that we had beaten out some other really good bands (Tennessee and Texas??) for the award.

OOPS, sorry. That was 1970 instead, but I decided to just leave it anyway.....

    Great things I remember:
    • Drinking Touchdowns at the Calendars on Highland
    • The smell of Jim Beam
    • Smoking hot sorority girls
    • Tailgating at the Fraternity house
    • Walking to the games
    • Sneaking liquor into the student section
    • After game parties

You might notice a lack of "football" moments listed. That's because they were things like:
    • Watching us lose to A&M in our opener (my first ever LSU game)
    • Jamie Howard throwing five fourth quarter interceptions - three returned for touchdowns aginst Auburn
    • going 4-7
    • Curly Hallman

Was not a freshman.......but not as senior as I am now. I expected a real "hard" game..... It looked like Wash. either did not care, or the humidity was killing them. I had rather watch Broadmoor play. But my (make that) your Tigers made them pay.......I did enjoy that........

My freshman year (1973), LSU football opened the season 9-0 but then dropped the Bama game to 9-0 Alabama under Bear Bryant. Cholly Mac probably never had a better team, but that Bama loss took the heart out of them and they dropped the season closer to Tulane and then lost the bowl game too, to finish 9-3.
