Report: Fins may 'set market' for Reggie Bush - NFL- NBC Sports

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Dolphins will pursue Reggie Bush after the Saints release him.

"From what I'm gathering, the Miami Dolphins might actually set the market for Reggie Bush," La Canfora reported on Total Access. La Canfora also mentioned the Eagles and Rams as teams likely to have interest, but he was the most adamant about Miami. The addition of Bush would bode well for rookie Daniel Thomas, who would likely still dominate carries in that scenario. Bush would handle third downs and probably return punts.

While the Patriots drafted two backs in the NFL Draft this past April, I still feel that they will be in the sweepstakes for Reggie Bush should he be released.

I’d be very anxious to see all of the different ways the Pats would use Reggie Bush in their offensive system, and I’m sure offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien would be chomping at the bit and re-writing a portion of the playbook should Bush join the team. While Bush wouldn’t be the centerpiece, he’d be an exciting compliment and weapon for Tom Brady. He could line as a traditional running back, in the slot, as an outside receiver, or anywhere else the Pats can dream of lining him up. Can you imagine what Bush could do catching the RB screens or bubble screens the Pats love to use?
What adds value to Bush as well in Bill Belichick’s eyes is his willingness to play special teams, and would give the Pats tremendous depth in the return department in addition to Wes Welker, Julian Edleman, Brandon Tate, and possibly Kevin Faulk. So while Reggie Bush would not be the bruiser Pats fans have been craving (BenJarvus Green-Ellis has done well filling that role), he would add a whole new dynamic to the team and keep opposing defensive coordinators awake at night.

A. Jon, I see Bush commanding a contract that would put the Patriots out of the mix. With BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Danny Woodhead, Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley atop the depth chart, I don't see the Patriots as being in position to devote significant financial resources to a fifth option at the position.

And as a Miami Dolphins fan from birth I am not too happy about this. The guy has had flashes of brilliance at times but not a consistent offensive threat that the Dolphins really need right now. Bummer.

I haven't been a Dolphins fan since I was a 10 yr old kid pretending like I was Marino. I do think Reggie has the potential to have his best years ahead of him so I would welcome the move if I pulled for Miami.

Obviously getting anything back of significance for Bush is a plus. Bush was never my favorite with the Saints but had some big moments in big games. Injuries slowed him down towards the end but he had an overall positive impact on the team and city.

If he goes to Miami he goes to a team with less offensive talent and an OC not nearly as smart as SP. I wouldn't expect his production to increase especially when he's always one hit away from the IR.
