Loza Marie Smith Tanner
Tanner, Loza Marie Smith - Born at home in Lanse Seau Paille, near Ville Platte, and a resident of Denham Springs, she died early Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Golden Age Nursing Home. She was 82 and a former waitress at Lambert's Restaurant in Sorrento. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, on Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Dale Kyle and the Rev. Marsha P. Hano. Burial in Hope Haven Cemetery, La. 30. She is survived by five children, Brenda Gayle Tanner and spouse George "Buster" Perkins of Denham Springs, Dianna Lynn Tanner and spouse Richard "Dick" Shelton of Maurepas, I.H. "Red" Tanner and fiancée Tina Zeller of Denham Springs, and Odelia Ann Tanner and spouse Alvin Thomas "Tommy" Richardson, and Oliver David and spouse Kathy Witmer Tanner, all of Sorrento; 10 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Irreas Houston Tanner Sr.; father, Jean Oramel Smith; mother, Sedonia Manuel Smith; infant son, David Tanner; stepson and daughter-in-law, Charles Joseph and Mildred Faye Gautreaux Tanner; two grandsons, Michael Wayne Tanner and Adam Thomas Richardson; five brothers, Harry, Laud, Webb, Jeff and Havard Smith; and three sisters, Eola Smith Fontenot, Helena Smith Oliver and Ena Smith Miller.
