1. Sounds like he has very good idea's to me. Don't know how Hallman got into your thoughts on this, maybe he had that same type of talk. But college football is about the students, pagentry, home filed advantage, etc. He's a smart guy IMO.
  2. I do not see where the Hallman comparison comes in. Meyer sounds like the real deal. Lets hope we are able to counter him.

By the way why should we have to play Florida year in year out when Auburn has to play Vandy and Kentucky and South Carolina. Florida is the toughest..and I mean the toughest team to beat in the SEC always, be it Zook, Sourrier, Meyer. It is just not fair.
  3. Well, we all know that schools have their "permanent" opponents from the division opposite their own, but you're right in asking how that's determined.

My guess is traditional rivalries that break across divisional lines come into play, stuff like Alabama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia. Keeping those matchups on a yearly basis would have a ripple effect, which may be why LSU has to play Florida every year.

    Just a guess.
  4. Uhhhhhhhh...

I'm very happy with the SEC's arrangement of an assigned East v West matchup. Auburn has UGA and Alabama has Tennessee, both to preserve historical rivalries. LSU was assigned Florida because both programs have the longest traditions. Arkansas has USC... a matchup of similar teams, while the bottom feeders MSU/UK, UM/Vandy play eachother. This is the best arrangement that could possibly happen.

  5. We have the single permanent opponent in order to keep the long term traditional rivalries of AU/GA and AL/TN alive. The Big 12 chose not to maintain the rivalries (e.g. OK/NE), but the SEC did. The matchups follow:

    AU/GA
    AL/TN
    LSU/FL
    Ark/SC
    OM/Vandy
    MSU/Kent
  6. Pretty impressive read. Florida football should be battling for the top spot in the SEC every year, IMO.

I look forward to seeing the boys battle Urban for years to come. SEC football is great because our schools attract greatness--in players, in coaches, in fans.

Best of the best. I wouldn't want it any other way.
  7. Movie quote is from "The Golden Child". Funny movie. :)
  8. You better go back and look at the list. As you can see most Tiger fans like our matchup with UF. I do too.
  9. Curley spouted similar ideas to audiences when came aboard LSU. He passed ownership to everyone. Meyer is peddling soft sell, fuzzy, cuddly Gator football. Maybe the damage caused by Zook is much deeper than I thought.

With the exception of Vandy and UK, the posers in football, every SEC has more than 9,000 bodies in the student section and they are very much into the game. Meyer maybe in for a culture shock at an SEC road game.
