1. Not trying to make this a race thing but obviously Alabama as a state has a long history and perception. How many starting black QB's had Bama had all-time? I want to say there was one in the early 90's but most of those years were intentionally deleted from my memory due to the Hallman era. I also remember a WR that may have played QB part-time (and eventually full-time). Have there been any that were recruited with the intent of being a starter that ended up earning the job for the better part of one year (i.e. not just as an injury replacement).
  2. Good thing you are not trying to make it a race thing. Get over it bro, I hate Bama as much as the next LSU fan, but this is stupid.
  3. Yeah, I hesitated even asking the question but someone was telling me that Bama never had a black starting QB and I told him I thought there was at least one or two but couldn't actually name one (except for that WR that's name escapes me). I don't think there's been one since I started college in '95 but could be wrong. I know the Bear was ahead of his time in race relations so not trying to knock Bama. Just curious.
  4. well, of late they recruited Star Jackson and Phil Simms.

  5. Phil Simms is way past his prime and he is white. Besides his eligibility is up

  6. Walter Lewis played for Coach Bryant and coach Perkins How about LSU ?

    What Year?
  7. 1974 Carl Otis Trimble

    Bama musta been early 80's.
  8. Star Jackson's got game though. :thumb:
  9. Well I got mixed up and forgot the Simms from NC's first name

(I just looked it up and the guy's name is Phillip Simms.)
  10. BamaOnLine.com - Notebook: Harris staying, Darrah going, Jackson could follow

The crowded depth chart has led to open speculation that Jackson might transfer this season to give him a better chance to play, which the 20-year-old did not dispute.

"I mean I ... this is the game I'm worried about," he said. "That might come up, I'll think about it, but right now I'm worried about the national championship."

When asked about a specific school, Jackson didn't comment.
