1. for next year.

it is obvious that Marcus Randall is NOT the future of LSU football. It hurts me to watch him play. He will forever be remembered in LSU lore for the Bluegrass Miracle, but I fear that is it.
  2. Amen.
  3. Yet another example of LSU football fans who are not fans of LSU football players...

Let me guess, did you guys call in to any of the post game shows?

Marcus Randall hasn't seen any action in three weeks...You expect him to come in and just light it up like gangbusters, eh?

You're like my ex old high school basketball coach. He'd put our best three point shooter on the bench after starting him in the first quarter and he'd lit up for like 5-7 3 pointers. He'd FORGET about him after that, starting him again at the half, and he'd just go out and drain two three's or so...

He'd take him BACK out and leave him on the bench till the end of the game. Then he'd expect him to go out and just nail whatever he got open to shoot. Now, I hate to say it, but this guy was good enough to do it. He was a robot when it came to dialing long distance from beyond the stripe.

But, the kid quit the same year, his SENIOR year. Basketball was supposed to be fun, but when he couldn't get into the flow of the game and was obviously one of our most talented players, he'd basically just lose interest, and it became more of a job than a love.

He also took a LOT of heat from our coach who would blame late collapses on his inability to drain them when we needed them.

My point is that you guys are just like my coach used to be in HS...

Forget about your really talented players, guys who stick through your comments, your crap, and your accusations, and perservere. Then they come in and compete, while they've overcome their own adversity.

You should applaud Marcus Randall for not transferring, for not bowing down after all the criticism he's taken. You should applaud him for getting ready every week knowing that Matt Mauck is the man.

Since it's obvious you can't applaud, and you can't say ANYTHING positive about the kid, then why don't you just do us ALL a favor, and SHUT UP.
  4. i disagree TE....he practices everyday. I am sure he gets reps with the first team as well. You see other backup qbs go into games everyweek when starters get hurt and play much better then Marcus did tonight against a subpar team who was already thouroughly beaten.

the guy is talented, nobody ever said he was not, but he is simply not the future qb of the tigers. i do not understand how you can watch his performance tonight, with the first string especially, and say he is a better than average qb.
  5. by the way TE...no hard feelings, just my opinion
  6. OK, here goes...

THE GUY GUIDED LSU TO WITHIN ONE BLOWN DEFENISIVE PLAY BY JACK HUNT AWAY FROM THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

How many below average quarterbacks lead their teams to an SEC Championship Game?

You can say what you want, but Randall did EVERYTHING asked of him in order to put his team into an opportunity where they could win a championship. I have NEVER before mentioned Jack Hunt's name, but it's painfully obvious the guy was out of position, and COST us that shot.

Can you deny, here, now, that Marcus Randall did not give LSU an opportunity to defend its SEC West Title in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game?

Do quarterbacks who lead a team to that situation rate as "average"?

The "What have you done for me lately" attitude still rings true...

Sorry, fella, but I don't hold Mauck's 4-12 performance against Moo U last year at home against him anymore. I don't hold last night against Randall, because he stepped in when the LSU team aws CRUMBLING around him and guided LSU into a position where we cold have the ultimate success. Sorry you are so totally ignorant that you can forget that...
  7. Doesn't anyone here think that Matt Mauck might be the starting QB for LSU next year?

    :geaux:
  8. Aaron Brooks got the starting job for the Saints after taking them to their first playoff win. The problem is, he didn't get them there. jeff Blake did. Brooks had a few good games. Now NO is stuck with him and his poor gameplay, decisions, etc.

Last year Mauck got injured. Randall took over and what was his record? 2-4? 3-4? Florida was Mauck's second loss as a starter. It took him two years to get that. Randall got it in two games. MT and FT are right on this one. Randall is nothing more than a backup.
  9. Now hold on pistol. I will agree with your assessment that Jeff Blake got us as far as he did until his injury, but I dont think there is any truth to the statement over Brooks. I think that yes, he does make a few bad decisions, but he does come through. Unfortunately, I don't think that the Saints are using him to his full potential.

Now that i got that out of the way :) , I just want to add my 2 cents over the play of Randall. This man will always have a special place in my heart for his pass against Kentucky. Just ask my fellow neighbors at my old apartment for every expletive that i shouted at the fact we had won. However, he isn't a starter. Just look at the Cotton Bowl game. He started it off so good that i thought it might go blowout, but i knew at the start of the second half that it was getting to him. My opinion is is that he can throw the long ball. That at least someone can run under. He can also throw a decent short screen or a dump out. But if he tries to throw the medium pass across the middle or on an out route, its either intercepted or in the crowd.
One other thing i would like to mention is in response to TE's post on how he got us to the championship. As a long ill-regarded ex-coach would say, "Not so fast!" If anything got us to that point, it was the opportunistic supporting cast that helped get us there. Yes, Randall did alright, but it is team play that wins the games.
  10. We don't mention...

Hey guys...we don't know alot as fans...

    1) IF MAUCK leaves for one

    2) If Marcus Randall will start next year and we must admit that he is the leading contendser for that position as of right now!

    3) there is another FR quarterback who to me is not afraid of a little competitiion by the name of Mr. FLynn (who did VERY well in Texas

    4) Who Coach Saban thinks is the best fit for the team next year.

Bottom line....who the hell knows but God and Saban and Fisher will start next near.

    Lets worry about 2003 first!

    Geaux Tigers!
