After two years of Mike Archer losing seasons followed by four years of Curley Hallman losing seasons, Gerry Dinardo stepped in and brought LSU to three straight bowl games and a 10-win season. The wheels came off later on and it was time for a change. So be it.

But that shouldn't change the fact that Gerry Dinardo was a Tiger and he gave a chit and he ended six straight losing seasons, preparing LSU for the Nick Saban era. He'll always be The Magic Man and he's a part of LSU history.

I like Gerry Dinardo. He never said a bad word about LSU.

I'm with you, Red. Gerry may have been his own worst enemy (see: Tepper, Lou; Diesel, Ceicel), but for a brief time he truly did bring some magic back to the Tigers.

Great post. My feelings exactly. Those who harbor ill will toward Gerry are mostly fans of winning, not fans of LSU.

Hey, back then, going to the Indy Bowl was a big, big deal. Some of my best memories come from camping out for tix, playing in Tiger Stadium to kill time (and, well, to play in TS) and going to that wretched stadium to see a postseason game. Good times!
