1. Found this on another board, thought it to be a very good post & figured I would share.

In the 20 yrs before Miles arrived, LSU managed 2 wins in 10 games against the Top 10 on the road. It had been 12 yrs since LSU beat a Top 10 team on the road (St. Nick was 0-2 losing by an avg of 18 pts). In the last two seasons under Miles and Russell, LSU is 2-2 against Top 10 on the road.

Last season, LSU beat Aub, Fla and Bama in the same season for the first time in history. This season LSU beat Tenn in Knoxville for only the second time in history. It is the only season in LSU history in which the Tigers played 3-Top 10 teams. It will be the only season in LSU history in which every road game will be against a ranked opponent, possibly all 4-Top 10 teams.

    J. Russell has led 4th quarter scoring drives for victories 7 times already in his college career. Only 4 qbs in the history of LSU football have led their team to victory more often than Russell (21-4). In fact, there is a chance that only two (Hodson and Tyler) will have more career victories than Russell at the end of his JUNIOR season.

The purpose of this post is not to debate the merits of Les Miles or Jamarcus Russell. It is to address those who claim to be fans the way abusive husbands claim to love their wives. If you are unable to enjoy this era of LSU football, history proves you are destined for disappointment and further misery. At what point did the joy of saying “I told you so!” or dissecting every imperfection outweigh the joy of victory? I really feel sorry for those of you who could not fully enjoy such a rare accomplishment in LSU history this weekend. At least there is some comfort for you in unceasingly criticizing the program you claim to support. One thing is certain, it is highly likely that your expectations will not be met again in the very near future – even in victory. History is in your favor.

  2. Facts are facts. Thanks for posting.
  3. Good post. I've been thinking for a while now that these are the "good old days" of LSU football that we'll be talking about some years down the road when we're sitting in nursing homes.

In fact, I believe Sam King wrote a column for The Advocate about that a couple of years ago.
  4. A good post, I like it. I just find it hard to believe this is the first time we've played 3 top 10 teams in a year, but I can believe its the first time we've played 3 top 10 teams on the road. That seems pretty unusual. 1979 we played USC and Alabama, both #1 when we played them.
  5. Great post!! Cant argue with the facts...

    :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
  6. I just wonder what its going to take to get LSU to the next level ?
  7. I bet isistl will say either:

A new coach or a new QB... :hihi:

  8. i think he forgot to add the sarcasm meter to his post.

thanks for posting cparso. A little perspective is needed for many here although some never get it because of their insistance to think they're right or simply fail to realize things are pretty damned good here.

Arkansas should be a top 10 team right now and if they keep winning certainly will be when we meet. How the hell is UF ahead of them after the hawgs whipped the Barners the week before the barners whipped UF. Oh thats right, preseason polls...nevermind.

I think we have played 3 top 10 teams in a season before but maybe not on the road and maybe not during the regular season? Certainly if the hogs are top-10 it will be the first time we've ever played 4 top 10 teams on the road.
  9. Good post, I believe we played three top 10 teams in 2003..

Nice we've gone from telling people who complain that they aren't 'real fans' to comparing them to people who beat their wives.

<sarcasm> Personally I think people who don't like everything about LSU sports are a bunch of pedophiles... </sarcasm>
  10. No, we need a new assistant strength coach
