  3. Was in Charleston for Hugo in '89. Hope this one passes the lowcountry by.

  4. We evacuated early this morning, just ahead of the first wind. Though we had heard horror stories on westward evacuation, we left at O dark 30 and didn’t see the first westbound car for 45 minutes.

We are about 200 meters from the Neuse River, in New Bern (New Bern featured on Weather Channel today). Projections for 9 foot surge, this far inland. However, for about a block around our house shows dry. Wasn’t going to bet on that.

Th problem is that our evacuation has taken us to near where storm will be on Sunday, but with our “ark’s worth” of pets, we had limited options.

Next crisis will be getting back due to inland flooding.

  5. Best wishes and good luck, HR, sounds like you've got this covered, keep your powder dry.

  6. Hurricanes are a bitch. Stay safe. Did you find a hotel that would take your ark full of pets?

  8. I love storms, easy to say from two thousand miles away,.. but I'd like to experience a hurricane.
  9. I experienced a few. Andrew was one of the first ones I rode out in Lafayette, as a kid.
