I figured out Les Miles' offensive philosophy. It's not based on a belief in a running game, being against throwing the football or even the ghost of Bo Schembechler. It's based on self preservation. Les knows a quarterback who is willing to take chances can cause him five to six losses a season. A mediocre qb who can at least avoid major catastrophe will cause no more than four losses. Les knows 8-4 won't get him fired. It will keep the seats filled with blind optimism that next season will be better. No, Les is not a stammering idiot. He's a Machiavellian genius who knows how to remain in power.
