I read this earlier today. Either playing up a potential threat or playing down a potential threat to keep the message the govt wants to tell us and for us to believe. Everything but the truth from them. I think the administration is playing this down and trying to keep a status quo until after the elections next year. Let the next Pres deal with it. There will be defenders and people making comparisons to past events to justify these actions.
