Stingley doesn't cover tight ends. He covers wide receivers. What makes you think he doesn't give a shit. You're probably the only person in the universe that thinks that.
Did you watch the last TD we gave up? He couldn’t cover their TE and put in a horrific effort to make the tackle before the touchdown. I’m not saying he doesn’t care in general. But he sure as hell didn’t on that play.
Maybe he was trying to tackle the TE because some else blew the coverage. If I recall correctly the receiver was running down the sideline.
You were right that it was not a TE. But it was Stingley’s man. And his effort was awful. The play starts at about 20:40 in the video below.
You can not run a top tier high standards program long term with a mere Recruiting Coordinator. You need someone either on offense or defense who comes in as a former coordinator who not only knows how the sausage ( Ok ,Boudin) is made but who created the recipe. If that metaphor doesn’t yank your nuggets how about this - You don’t hire a grease monkey to run Exxon.
