I've watched the last two GOP debates. Perry seemed to get his ass whipped in both, not to mention the fact that Cain just beat him in the Florida straw poll. His stance and history on illegal immigration and border security are going to be his achilles heels. I know it's early, but all of the other GOP candidates are attacking him relentlessly, even if some of their information is inaccurate, the damage is already done.
The debate moderators have given Perry, Romney and Bachman the most opportunities to present themselves, but I've been intrigued by Cain from the start. There's a grass-roots feel to his campaign that's very appealing, and he clearly has the best qualifications to tackle the domestic problems with a businessman-like approach. Maybe this straw poll win is a sign the voters are taking notice.
I agree. I've always liked him since I first saw him presenting his case on tv a few months ago. Maybe the white house itself may be too big for him, but perhaps something like treasury secretary or chairman of the fed, who knows.
It is still anyone's game. Too early to be discarding candidates. I think Perry, Romney, Bachmann Santorum or Gingrich all have a legitimate shot at the nomination. Cain has been improving his position but with no political experience, I don't see him getting the nomination. Paul, Johnson and Huntsman are done. But in all honesty, I think the nomination will come down to Perry or Romney.
Given the opportunity, I would vote for Cain, as well. Need to see what kind of team he has and can put together.
