I was out watering this morning and I came to a special tree that always makes me think of football. The tree is a live oak. You guys have lots of those but you don't see many in North Alabama. The tree reminds me of good times and bad times. I bought it at one of the plantaions on the river road to N.O. after the 2003 Auburn at LSU game. It was just a small seedling but is now over 7 ft tall and doing well. The bad memory is that you guys beat the crap out of us 31-7 but overall it was a good time experiencing my first game in Tiger Stadium. The game was delayed by a storm that hit just before game time, I should have known then we were in trouble.

But now the tree serves as a lesson that life goes on even in bitter defeat. But geez I hope I don't have to buy another live oak seedling this year to remember that lesson.:thumb:

I wish the Tigahs good luck except October 20th and hope the winner of that game goes to the SECC game. I really look forward to the LSU-bama game. I hope LSU really lays a beating on $aban.

Thanks PT, for a real classy post. You're one of the "big 4" from Auburn, who do a great job on our forum, and are always welcome. I wish you guys the same luck, but with a little different outcome for our tussle :hihi: .

You're right, it's almost time, under a week for us to kick off. May the refs smile on our Tigers in Baton Rouge this year!

I am confused, why do you guys always mention refs when talking about AU?:)

Great to see PT here, I share his sentiments.

Live oaks grow fast in their first 25 years, especially if you give them plenty of water and fertilizer. Then they will grow for 200 years, live for 200 years, and die for 200 years.

But I bet North Alabama is a bit cold in the wintertime for them.

i would love to have one here but it's too cold for them.

i covet the one in front of our next door neighbor's house (or whats left of it) in nola.

that is something i really miss about s. louisiana - the live oaks. i keep a picture in my office of a grove of live oaks that i took on my first trip to br when i was 12-13. that was when s. louisiana got in my blood and i was destined to be a tiger.

Question: What does it take to beat two Tigers in a three week period? Mississippi State!

    Go Dawgs!

Swerved It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Beat us with what? That stingy MSU defense that held us to 50 or less points 4 out of the last 5 years? Or is that explosively overpowering and dominating machine you call an offense gonna hang half a hundred on Dorsey and tha' boys?
