I assume you too think JR throws too hard. Even if it were true there is no excuse in the world for not catching a pass that hits you in the hands. And most of the time, that is exactly where JR put the ball. If you can touch it, you should catch it. End of story. Imagine what a good coach would say to a receiver if he used that as an excuse for dropping a ball. Probably something along the lines of "Well pussy boy, maybe you can see how hard the ball gets thrown to your weak ass on the bench."
Where is tin4 who made up the bull****, imo, of his girlfriends friends friend friend hearing JR say this?
Wasn't that the knock on T. Bradshaw when he came up? Or was it Elway? That they threw the ball too hard? New receivers didn't think so.
The drops the receivers were experiencing were because of lack of concentration, not because J-Marc was throwing too hard. If you watch the Arkansas game, both of Bowe's drops were off of balls that Russell put a lot of loft and touch on. I don't think Dwayne and Craig were in the huddle saying "Yes, Flynn does not throw as hard, now we can catch!"
Here's the thing: No one is scared of JR. How well did he do against Arkansas? Against Georgia? Against Tennessee? I don't think Flynn is perfect, and he needs some work, but he showed more flash (passing, poise, running, etc.) against a top rated 'D' than I've ever seen in JR against a mediocre team. Once a defense gets to him, he throws ducks or overthrows his man. If he steps up to run, he lumbers down the field so sloth-like, that he looks like he's moving in slo-mo. I think it was in the Georgia game in the first quarter where he tried to scramble backwards and lost like 15-20 yards after tripping over his own feet. He's got fair accuracy, but I can't tell you how many times Buster Davis dropped to his stomach, wide open, to catch a pass. Now, let me say this, he's a decent QB, but that's it. I think he's best suited for handing the ball of and letting the run set up the pass. Another thing, I hate when an LSU win is degraded when the other team is said to so-called "quit" or "isn't feeling it." They flat out lost. The first 3 minutes of the game, Miami was moving through our line like Swiss cheese, but after forcing them to kick the field goal, we totally and completely shut them down. We figured them out and even allowed like a 40-50 yard run during that time, still forcing the punt. They didn't roll over, we rolled them over. Remember Jamie Howard? The worst LSU QB of all time (In my lifetime anyway). I'd take JR over him any day. Here are some clips I found, but you all may get a little squeemish watching this. Remember the Jamie Howard game? http://www.aunation.net/Audio&Video%20Clips/AUvsLSU94Interception1.mpeg http://www.aunation.net/Audio&Video%20Clips/AUvsLSU94Interception2.mpeg (Both #4.... hmmmmmmm)
Gee thanks for reminding me. I finally pushed that out of my mind, now you've forced me to go back to therapy:hihi:
What QBLuke said seems pretty logical to me as well... Miami was playing with us in the first half. Their Defense was stifling at times and Hester was unbelievable in running the ball and making plays. If LSU wouldn't have capitalized on a few "KO" punches, Miami would still be in this game and not rolling over like a dead-duck. No one knows why Flynn had the game he did. Maybe he wanted to make sure to show his absolute 110% best effort because he knew he may never get the chance again. Then again, maybe if JR had played, we'd have hung 60 on those Thug-Punks? No one knows...Chris Jackson may have even been able to hang 40 while utilizing a revamped OL and runnning game. There is too much speculation and I think it's a lot easier for some "fans" to just say that "a white, smart QBis what this team needed all along." You guys KNOW you've heard this... It's sad that "whitey" can do no wrong even when he looked like a pile-of-turds against UGA... oh well, my head hurts... EDIT: I'm not insinuating that anyone is being racist about this... just one of the myriad of "explanations" I could have come up with... gimme some time and I'll think of some more
The Bama game???? U know the one where JR put the offense on his back and led the comeback with NO RUNNING at all against a top ranked defense. Flynn had 270+ yards rushing to help him out, JR didn't have that against Bama.
This is probably just JR thinking outloud & discussing his options with his friends... I don't know how wealthy JR's family is, but if there is an urgent issue that required money - going pro is an option for JaMarcus. He'd go by the 4th round atleast. If so many of you think Flynn is going to be our QB next season anyway, how is it hurting JR to leave early? And perhaps JR is feeling that heat too. With 2 very good QBs "behind" him, he will really hurt his draft stock if he comes back only to be de-throwned.
