1. His stats won't impress anyone.

But that oh-so-critical 4th down conversion that he ran in for a TD was definitely a confidence builder.

You could tell from that point forward he looked more in command when he was on the field.

    Great to see.

    Small steps.
  2. I agree. You can tell he wants to be better. Lee always has that glazed look when the camera zooms in on his face, but JJ looks like he wants to punch someone.

After watching the replay, Lee played much better in the second half, but he still stared down one guy the whole way on every play, overthrew wide open WRs, and hung a couple out to dry.

Also, did anyone notice that Troy completely fell apart in the second half? LSU got a lot of help. I mean, they were dropping wide open passes consistently. LSU was blowing coverage in the 4th quarter, and they still missed. Total collapse. LSU, however, could have picked off a couple passes, but so could Troy on several instances.

I think that LSU showed how deep and talented they are compared to a team like Troy. We won that game on talent/motivation to do better. Troy was worn down, blowing coverage, dropping passes, fumbling punts, going for it on fourth, and Lafell and Toliver were lighting them up. Lee benefited greatly from it. I hope he's actually improving.
  3. Great post, CP.

For those that did get to see Lee in the 2nd half live or on the replay, and after separating yourself from the raw emotion of this incredible win, you saw a Jarrett Lee that continues to struggle. Lots of passes off target that our receivers make great catches on, locking in on just 1 receiver and throwing it that way no matter what (except that one time).

As big a target as Toliver is, Lee is quite good at missing him.

He seems to perform best in no huddle and I hope we just go to that offense all the time with him in the game. It just is his strength.

I am just happy Lee could bring us back to victory. Lord knows the kid needed this.
  4. JJ's redshirt needed to be solidly burned against App St and North Texas but the staff was hoping Hatch would be the "other guy". He's just not got enough pt and now heading into the stretch, he'll have the biggest trial by fire ever if Lee gets hurt and he has to jump in and run the team. Next Spring? I think JJ has a good shot at pressing Lee and Shep for the job. Trouble for JJ is, Shep has a reasonable shot at pt as well.

Next year's QB competition is going to be fun to watch. Go ahead and Sticky a thread now. It'll be the topic of the winter and spring, no doubt.

As for Troy "falling apart". I think that they certainly ran out of emotion-driven energy. But those drops you're talking about were most often in good coverage and sometimes due to our DBs. I saw one, maybe two "wide open" drops. I also saw a bunch of "blind squirrel" pitch and catch going on the first half, so it all evens out.
  5. There were several long passes that should have been caught that were dropped, a few of them were wide open.

But, thankfully, Jarrett breathes a sigh of relief....

  6. I've got a new nickname for you: "Yeah, but..."

    For example:

    TF: Lee brought us back
CP: Yeah, but he missed a wide open receiver on one series

TF: Defense finally picked it up
CP: Yeah, but Troy was tired and missed wide open passes

    Get the idea?
  7. "Yeah but we won" is all I care about at this point. Glad we won but with two games to go we have a long way to go. Everyone in the bathroom, b4 the comeback, was blaming Perry Lou. (Note to LSU, can we at least get exhaust fans in the bathrooms? The combined smell of sweat, urine, feces, vommit etc. gets to be much at times)
  8. EDIT: I deleted my post because it was a stupid response.
  9. Moderately humorous in theme, but with unnecessary vulgarity that did not contribute to the humor and actually detracted from the theme.

  10. I just think SFAH has a man-crush on me.
