Highlights of Joe Dean's Administration..... Here are a few tidbits which occurred under Joe Dean's watch as A.D. 1-Joe Dean hired a search firm to find "the best coach available" after Archer had to be fired. Joe Dean handcuffed the so-called National Search by making atatements that there would never be a million dollar head coach at LSU on his watch. Joe Dean paid $65,000.00 to come up with Curley Hallman. Well, you get what you pay for. 2-Joe Dean allowed his buddy Dale Brown to remain at LSU as basketball coach even though it was obvious that Dale Brown was dragging the program down. Joe Dean allowed Dale Brown to stay on at LSU until the NCAA put LSU on a major probation and it was just amazing that no one knew anything about Lester Earl being paid. Just amazing. 3-Joe Dean had to go hire another head football coach after Hallmann had to be fired. In comes Dinardo only after Joe Dean ha botched the hiring of Pat Sullivan by not taking care of the buyout clause which was in Sullivan's TCU contract. HOW DOES AN ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OVERLOOK A BUYOUT CLAUSE?? 4-Joe Dean drove his car off into an LSU lake. 5-Joe Dean rear-ended a driver in the Southdowns area of Baton Rouge and left the scene of the accident. He was found several hours later on the LSU campus (after he sobered up). 6-Joe Dean ran a red light; ignored a police car which had sirens blaring and lights flashing; and backed into the Police Car after Joe Dean was driving to the Tennis stadium. 7-Joe Dean met with the lawyer of a female student who was suing for Title IX funding of female sports. During this interview Joe Dean made a statement that he wanted to start a girl's soccer team because he liked the way the girls looked in "those little shorts". Joe Dean was a joke and presided over some of the worst era's in LSU sports history and many of the problems at LSU during that period were definitely a result of Joe Dean's poor decisions and incompetence.
