I think he has to. It would be nice if he could sit out and watch for a few games but who will they start that is better than him? Unless they make a move, I agree with this article. Thoughts?

Sounds like he is already starting to become more vocal. He always seemed to be a quiet leader at .

It would be ridiculous to hold him out. He is just too much of an asset. Oakland is not paying him a ton of money to warm the bench.

Too early to tell, really. It depends on training camp, which is partially a function of getting signed.

Also, McCown isn't Brooks-horrible, so it wouldn't be the end of the world for JR to sit for a few weeks during the season. At the very least, that would give him a chance to get comfortable with the NFL schedule and game speed before taking over.

I think that's the best-case scenario for Oakland, short of signing Culpepper signing and getting healthy before the season.

Yeah, starting at QB as a true rookie is a seriously high pressure situation.

Good think JR is at his best in high pressure situations. I'd start him and see what he can do.

By the time the first game comes, I don't think the coaches will have any doubt that JaMarcus is the best QB on the team, but whether it is right or wrong, there's a real fear of starting young QBs & damaging their confidence.

Personally, I hope he doesn't start the first game. I want there to be a comparison so that fans can see how terrible the team is without JaMarcus, so that when the team struggles it will not be blamed on him.
