It's just another example of perception is reality. Kind of like when DiNardo was losing in '98 and his commercials kept airing. Perception was that he was spending too much time promoting his business instead of coaching football, although the commercials were done in the summer.

People act as if college players around the nation were studying the playbook, lifting weights and running at night, while JV & every normal college student is out relaxing and enjoying their life. Just b/c the man was out didn't mean he busted his arse earlier that day, and it don't mean he doesn't plan on hittin the wts. hard the next day. I mean how many times have you had the workout of your life, then go out later to cutup w/ your friends.

I guess ppl have to attribute the sharp contrast in production from '03 to '04 to something. What surprises me is I rarely see anybody pointing to the obvious pressure a freshman faces when having to live up to a phenomenal 1st season. This dilemma is so common place in sports, it's been traditionally dubbed, "Sophomore Jinx". He'll be back, I don't see him as a flash in the pan ala Freddie Milons.

lmao that reminds me how people actually complained of Saban's Ford truck commercials saying he was getting the big-head and not applying his full effort towards the football program. fans are sick. ain't it great

Mike didn't make the post, Justin Vincent did. If he "owns" Justin Vincent's words because it is on his message board, even though Justin Vincent authored it, then I guess he has a case. I would be much more understanding if it was a story that he or one of his guys that writes articles on there wrote. What if Justin Vincent wanted to post the same statement on TigerDroppings and Tigerforums? Would he sue Justin Vincent? Seems ridiculous.

Well I bet Mike S doesn't actually sue anyone...But I guess our questions would be best suited for a lawyer...You make a valid point, but something tells me you just can't copy and paste anything from a pay site...Bet it a written article or something from the message board. The very fact that you pay to use the message board and the articles makes me think you probably can't just copy and paste Message Board material either...

no just specific content. he can post whatever and wherever he wishes, just not exact material.

maybe if jv made a bibliography for Mike S he would stop being a paranoid prick as he has in the past.

We have to expect that every athlete at LSU will go out and have a few drinks. It's unrealistic to hold them to a higher standard. Having said that, if a guy is out enough to have a reputation of being out "Every night" then he's definitely out too much.

    When you consider the following:

1.) rumors that Vincent is out drinking very frequently
2.) Think about Saban as a disciplinarian and how he might react to a player who is not committed to the program
3.) Vincent's role inexplicably diminishing from starting RB to garbage time
4.) Vincent supposedly showing up out of shape

Some of these things add up. I can't pretend to know the truth but it doesn't matter. Perception is everything.

Justin Vincent brought this on himself. He has no one else to blame. The strange thing is many people that I know that have met him think he's a very good kid (similar to what others have said here.) He needs to take personal responsibility for himself. He can't blame others for talking about him when it is his actions that have caused them to talk.

I can guarantee you one thing. Joseph Addai worked harder between 2003 and 2004 than JV did. I don't think one of us thought that Addai could outplay Vincent the way that he did. If Vincent would quit worrying about what people are saying on a message board, and start worrying about competing with the likes of Addai and Broussard, he'd be more effective at changing the way that people view him.

I can guarantee you another thing. If Saban were still here and he heard that Vincent was on a message board arguing with fans, Saban would put an end to it very quickly. There is NO WAY he'd put up with it. It's not appropriate and it's not conducive to achieving your goals. Criticism needs to be expected. If he didn't like what people were saying, he should focus on proving them wrong vs. arguing with them that they are wrong. Arguing with internet fans shows a lack of maturity...perhaps the same lack of maturity that has us talking about this issue in the first place.

    What???

Where did you hear Vincent showed up out of shape? The Strength and Conditioning coaches had to say this:

"LSU strength and conditioning coaches said that this is the hardest working group of LSU football players that he has been around in his five years at LSU. My source did not have any stats to give me on power lifts, bench presses or anything like that, but told me that he did see Tyson Jackson, Keith Zinger, Herman Johnson, Brett Helms, Nate Livings, Ryan Miller, Doug Planchard, Alonzo Manuel, Kevin Steltz, Justin Vincent, Jacob Hester and Craig Steltz that he recognized and that they all seemed to be in great shape. "

Also, this isn't the first time a player has got on a message board. Saban being here or not has nothign to do with this.

Have you ever been in college? You do realize a social life is healthy?

Yes, criticism SHOULD be expected, but think about how old this young man is....He's not Jesus and it's ridiculous that you expect him to wear a plate of armour around him...

    LOL,

DallasLSU thinks I'm being to harsh while USNavyTiger thinks I'm not being harsh enough. Pretty funny.

Yes, I went to college, and yes I went out to many of the same bars that JV was reported to having frequented (some have different names now :) ) That's why I said we can't expect that these guys are going to stay home and live life differently just because they are athletes. But, my point was that if you are developing a reputation (more than one person said things like he's never been out without seeing JV out) it's probably because you are spending too much time at a bar.

I don't have any first hand knowledge that Vincent was out of shape last year, but I thought I remember reading (from a message board I'm sure) that Saban explicitly said he name last year. That's why I said "supposedly" cause I don't know for sure. When was your quote taken? Was that this year or last year?
