who cares who they pick, thats what they get paid to do, do what the boss says, its just like Fox News, they still have to line up and play.

LSU could have lost every game they played, which could be said about every team. The fact is that they won 11 of them.

I say let EVERYONE jump on the OSU bandwagon. I welcome it.

Are you kidding? OSU was pummeled by the media that year saying we had no chance, we should of lost 5 games, where lucky to win this and that. OSU got bashed unmercifully. Seriously, you couldn't be any more wrong concerning the media and their treatment of the OSU team going into the Fiesta bowl against Miami. There was only one national media guy that picked OSU (guy from collegefootball.com), everybody else picked Miami in a blowout.

We were a lot closer to going undefeated. I think this is a game the sports media types play. At first they build up LSU as the favorite, and then they start tearing us down and building up OSU just to show they can.

As an outsider whose team had absolutely no chance at a national title, that is how I recall it. Maybe being entrenched in the media hooplah of an undefeated season in 2002 and hearing about every single talking heads stance you have a different view. So take it for what it's worth.

And I wasn't talking about predictions for the championship game. I was talking about the perception of OSU's wins during the season. As long as OSU was undefeated, nobody cared if they had a close game or 5.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. We were constantly berated for how close our games were, for the last second victory against PSU on a 4th down gamble. Thats all we heard for nearly 2 months, how lucky we were. The common name for the buckeyes on other forums was "Luckeyes" because everybody thought we just got lucky in each and every game.

Just about every game OSU played in that year was extremely close, our offense consisted of #13 and that was it for the most part, our QB had a big hart but little talent.

In 2002, it took Ohio State until week 9 or 10 to get near the top of the rankings. AP had them at #10 to start and they hung around at #6 for a long time....as the last of the undefeated teams. Then, as ND, VT, Texas and OU slipped, they moved on up.
The media was unimpressed with their abilty to keep games close, yet win, and the questions were even more pronounced when they finished tied with Iowa for the Big Ten crown, but got to play Miami.
IMO, the media did more to prepare them for Mighty Miami than anything. Last year OSU bought into the hype big time... and Florida grabbed the apple.
I don't think either OSU or LSU will fall victim to the clippings this year, as neither team got through the season unscathed.

The ability to win, and the experience of winning close games is a big advantage. I don't care what the talking heads say...those who can't play coach. those who can't coach, work for the media...:thumb:
