I am not here to bash the team or Les Miles. I am thankful we even made it to the SEC Chmapionship game. However, I feel as if Kyle Williams and Andrew Whitworth are quite overrated this year. Kyle Williams is a great leader and a really good guy. That does not make up for the fact that he jumps offsides 5 times a game. Whitworth, like Williams seems to commit penalties at the worst possible time as well. They both seem like great people, I just think they are overrated as football players.
Williams jumps whenever there is the slightest ball movement by the center. The guy studies film and tendencies, and moves on those tendencies. Wroten does the exact same thing. That's why they get off the ball so fast. Most times, when they jump, its because something slight made them move and that "slight" is sometimes hard to see by the officials. Whitworth doesn't get enough due. You never hear the guys name unless he gets an infrequent penalty. You never hear how he got blown up by a DE leading to a sack. Let's forget about all the times you don't hear his name and focus on the few times you do. Oh, I forgot, OL aren't allowed questionable holding penalties or the occasional false start. Doesn't happen in the NFL either, right? If you want to speak to the overall team discipline compared to the previous regime, I'm on board, because this team doesn't behave the same way we did under Saban. Lack of discipline and lack of focus. But if we go here, its lack of TEAM discipline and TEAM focus. Let's not call out two Tiger greats who have been major cogs in this teams success.
