1. Is he still on the squad? i know he had some problems early on. If he is still around, anyone know if he is getting redshirted or what?
  2. I think he went back to Cali, to Cali, to Cali...
  3. ask petey carroll.
  4. Nick said he left the team without so much as a word. Apparently he has enrolled at a Junior College near his home. Teammates said he was homesick for California.

    Mammas boy.
  5. "WR Lavelle Hawkins left the program last week, returned home to Stockton, Calif., and enrolled at City College of San Francisco"

Found it... homesick? i doubt it.. feeling stupid for committing with doucet and carter.. .more likely.
  6. word is he is gonna transfer to USuCk and has spoken to Petey.

I wish him well and am sorry he was homesick.

He was the suprise of the Recruiting Bash.

    damn!
  7. I can't feel too bad after getting #1 and #3 wr's respectively out of the class of 2003, especially not after how well Doucet has played this season.
  8. Hawkins has a lot of talent - IMO, he was one of the biggest recruiting mysteries in recent memory. I still can't understand why he wasn't rated much, much higher. He will start wherever he goes...
  9. Having an out-of-state player of Hawkins' caliber is always a risk--especially with the amount of young talent at the same position.

If he was homesick, I have no problem with that. Seriously, put yourself in his position--not everyone is able to go away from home and leave everyone they've ever known. Some people can do it, but other's can't. So if you're a player, and you're in a place you've never been before, and have all that talent ahead of you on the depth chart, kinow that you're not going to get playing time any time soon, then perhaps you don't feel bad about going back home.

I wish him the best of luck. Wish he would have been one of those that COULD stay away from home (I think LSU and Baton Rouge are GREAT for a college student), but I won't fault him for leaving....
  10. He was lacking credits he needed to qualify through the NCAA Clearinghouse when he was rated or else he would have been rated higher than he was, but he went to night school and successfully passed the credits that were required and ahead of schedule too. Your right, Hawkins will start wherever he lands and would have made a great player for LSU had he stayed.
