True. But all of their backups have played before and play regularly. JJ hasn't. I don't think it would have made a huge difference either way, but you gotta get those guys reps when you can.
Lee needs all the practice he can get. The WRs need to step their game up a lot as well. The players and coaches as a whole are slacking this year. Miles and crew need to look a lot better against Bama. It wont be pretty if LSU gets bombed at home by Satan and Bama.
The biggest question I have about all of this is why did we burn Jeffersons redshirt for just one series, 5 plays? It's not like now he's ready to play. Either get him PT to get ready or keep the redshirt.
I don't get the move to put in JJ at the very end either. Having Jefferson hand the ball off does absolutely nothing positive. It ends any chance for a redshirt but gains him no experience. If all they were going to do is run the ball just leave Lee in. It's not like he's not going to get hurt handing off.
Instead of just saying Lee needs as many snaps as possible, I say Lee needs to make damn sure every snap he gets is positive and he makes the most of it. On second thought, I don't limit this to Lee. This goes for our entire team and staff.:lsup:
He already burned the RS earlier in the year. Miles was talking about a medical redshirt a few weeks ago, saying JJ was "hurt." Do you think they would have been granted a medical redshirt after Miles saying we were going to see JJ "quite a bit" all week?
Yes, it's pretty easy to get a redshirt as long as you don't play past the 3rd game. It would have been no problem at all.
This was the same thought process before Perrilloux left. "He's our future, so let's put all our eggs in this one basket." That worked out great.
If Lee gets hurt in the Bama game, we're screwed regardless of how many snaps Jefferson would have gotten against Tulane. Lee is our best hope against Bama - let's just hope it is enough. And the reason "we never got around" to letting Jefferson throw, is because we were running for 10+ yards per carry at that point.
