1. Anybody use liquid crab boil as a seasoning for other things? I add from half a cap to a capful to red beans, jambalaya, etoufe and sometimes gumbo while cooking. Adds to the flavor as long as you don't use too much.
  2. Had never thought of that but like the idea. Would be scared to over power other tastes in whatever it is I add it to.
  3. Sounds really good in red beans but I don't know about the rest. I've heard of it but never thought to do so
  4. Just don't use too much. If you're cooking a small amount about 1/3 of a capfull should be enough. I just ate the rest of the jambalaya I made Friday. OK, I made it from a box of mix because I've never had it come out just right when cooking it from scratch.
  5. It's futile without a cast iron pot.
  6. Just mix it all up. :D

  7. Meh. I've cooked lots of jambalaya in aluminum Magnalites at home. I have cast iron pots of every size now, but before I did, the Magnalites worked just fine. I do agree though, that you need a heavy pot. It's all about cooking the rice.

  8. Yeah that all we used for kitchen jambalayas. Zero chance BB has a nice set of Magnalites.

  9. I don't have any Magnalites but I do have iron cookware. I think I'm doing something wrong wit the rice. The best home cooked jambalaya I have eaten the rice is sort of brownish. Maybe I should use some oil and cook it longer.
  10. I have a few that were my Moms and a couple from my Grandmother. Love them. One of these idiots i live with put one in the dishwasher and I almost went to jail
