I understand the price of success but EVERY game during the day is TOO DAMN MUCH! Why can't they show more games at night? Oregon was at night...West Virginia was at night...the Cotton Bowl moved to night... We've had great teams in the past and still played games at night. It's not simply the "cost" of success. It's also a suckass contract signed by the SEC. The 11:20 games aren't a sign of success and NO team ranked in the top 10 should play that early except by choice. I know Okie mentioned it but did anybody else notice the tailgating the past two weeks? Collectively it sucked compared to usual. Did you notice the empty seats? Anybody who thought the crowd was as loud the past two games as we are during night games needs to have their ears checked. We should be able to opt out for at least one game a season. Is that asking too damn much?
 Purple, like CO said BECAUSE they ARE meaningful is why they were moved. I feel ya and even agree that it sucks but I prefer being upper tier and afternoon than irrelevant and plenty of night games with plenty of tickets to go along with them.
Why does it have to be either/or? Why can't we have both? Can't we have ONE damn night game? Also...if you're going to screw us over give us more than a week to adjust our plans.
#1 LSU is a member of the SEC. #2 The SEC negotiated the contract with CBS. LSU is bound to abide by the terms of the contract plain and simple. That or drop out of the SEC and go independent. Be careful what you ask for.
I agree with the sentiment of the OP, but what you have to ask is, how many other SEC teams prefer to play at night? Sure its always assumed that LSU home games will be at 7:00 unless TV dictates otherwise, but what about the rest of the conference. I know Bama prefers afternoon kickoffs. I just did a quick check of other schools, and quit after finding Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee now list every kickoff time as TBA until they know what network is picking them up. I said in another thread that I can't imagine CBS gets better ratings with its normal Saturday night crap than it would with a weekly SEC game in prime time. But, if we're the only conference power that wants night games, and the other 6-7 prime time-worthy schools want afternoon kickoffs, majority is going to rule.
I'm fairly certain that the SEC was able to negotiate a lucrative contract with ESPN based on the following: #1 ESPN knows that CBS will only televise one prime time game per year. #2 They get the next pick after CBS selects their afternoon telecast. As a result, ESPN only has to compete against ABC and not ABC & CBS.
Dammit CBS give us some night games. I actually prefer ESPN since I can at least watch in HD.... stupid 'local' stations don't broadcast in HD here *pouts*
