LSU should hav 5 teams in regionals.. Southland - Northwestern St. is #1 going into their tourney... SWAC - Southern wins.. Tulane ULL - #1 seed in SBT LSU... So if they give Louisian 2 regionals, thats 5 teams with one outsider (S. Miss maybe?)... So should it be: B.R. Regional: LSU, Southern, ULL N.O. Regional: Tulane, NSU, S. Miss. ?
There is no doubt that Louisiana will have two regionals, one in Nola (Tulane) and one in BR (LSU). The big question is will the state have two Super's. The other question is where will the Louisiana teams other than LSU and Tulane play.
I was reading that as those three teams and an "outsider" team for the 4th one in each Regional. How about a clarification on that post, Loco
What are the possibilites of LSU being pushed into Tulane's SR if we don't succeed in the SEC Tourney (which, unfortunately, I don't think we'll make it past Hochevar in the second game, and then we'll probably win one more then be eliminated.) Do you think that two wins and two losses are enough for us to host a SR? I don't care WHERE we go, as long as it isn't Tulane. On the other hand, I think LSU is the only team in the country that could beat Tulane in N.O. becuase of the proximity, and rivalry. I was feeling really good about our chances until this past weekend at Miss State. We stunk it up pretty bad in that series, but I do think a lot can be attributed to the fact that State plays pretty good ball at home, and were fighting for a higher Tourney seeding.
what makes you think UT wins their first one without hochever? we aren't going to toolame. Im thinking two wins and we're in. LSU won their division in the best conference by far in the country when hardly playing their best ball. State's backs were against the proverbial wall and LSU still won the series. We're the only team that can beat Tulane? I will never understand people's view that there's always these great teams out there as long as its not LSU. There's almost never any so-called great teams. The one truly great team I remember was Texas many moons ago which went undefeated for 3/4's of the year then some unknown LSU team swept them in their own backyard. Any team has the ability to beat another in the postseason and which team steps up their game becomes the dominant team to fear. I truly will never understand the mindset of our so-called fanbase given the fact that we've seen more miracles in baseball than any other school in the modern era. No teams consistently hit others true aces well. thats why they're freaking aces. yet they're not infallible. randy johnson has actually allowed a hit once in his career to the devil rays. First it was doom and gloom and on the verge at being left out the SEC tourney. Then we win the west and its we're not good enough to beat hochever or whatever said ace. then it will be we aren't good enough to get past texas or baylor if we win the regional when in actuality hardly anyone could name 1 player off any other team not named LSU. this simply shows how quick most are to write us off without proper perspective. If we advance then it will be we're good enough to get to omaha but we certainly won't be able to match up to some other teams ace. LSU has 2 pretty dominant starting pitchers along with mestepey as well as a pretty dominant closer with Determan not to mention Faircloth to spell him with his awkard delivery if needed. Some MLB teams don't have that much overall depth much less colleges. check out Miami's team ERA in a much weaker conference though Im sure most our fans would pick them over us at the drop of a hat. Its seem our fans constantly bitch about lack of respect from the media when often its our own fanbase who discount our team quicker than anyone. Unless its football of course but the reality is the baseball program has actually earned it more than any other. It would be nice to see our fans learn to truly appreciate what we have. I'm afraid next year will afford us that opportunity once we learn what struggling is really like. i'm not bashing you in particular and Im not saying our team doesnt have faults though I am saying we often lack perpective which in turn keeps us from appreciating our team even when its a national power. If we can't truly support and believe in our team when its top 10 team I dread the day we aren't in the top 25 for any significant amount of time. Then again, Im also aware many LSU baseball fans are nothing more than frontrunners as proven by this year's attendance. We were considered the best fanbase in college baseball by far for many years. I suppose that's only when we're winning national titles.
