1. Daily Reveille - Baseball: Tigers add player to final 2011 roster - 6:11 p.m.
  2. any relationship to lenny???
  3. no
  4. Sounds like a find.
  5. pitchers that come from out west (especially california) are where it's at. we need to sign more of these guys. the competition is so great out there that small, no-name schools get pitchers that end up being solid MLB players. i never understood why we never tried harder (as a program) to bring in more of those west coast players. zeph zinsman was a cocky little SOB (and not a pitcher,) but i throughly enjoyed watching him play at LSU. most of the guys don't want to stay here more than a season or two, but.... what's the difference between that and developing a pitcher for a year or two to only pitch one season? anyway, great news!
  6. only stats i can find on this kid are offensive stats. kid can swing a stick, but we need pitchers.
  7. between Ben Alsup, Bradshaw, Ott, LaSuzzo, and all the new guys, there are arms.

Just whether or not they are the right arms -- that is the question.

The offense will be loaded, though.
  8. His pitching and offensive stats as a true freshman last year are here:

Apparently, they didn't use him as a pitcher much (only 10.67 innings), but they put him in the field instead. As a hitter, he was #7 on the team in games-played, #8 on the team in at-bats, #6 on the team in runs, #8 on the team in hits, #7 on the team in doubles, #7 on the team in triples, #7 on the team in home runs, #2 on the team in walks, #6 on the team in RBI, #16 in the team in batting avg (.267), #8 on the team in slugging %, #7 on the team in on-base %, and #7 on the team in stolen bases.

However, note that most of those guys he was competing against at pitcher got drafted as RHPs:

RHP Dustin Hobbs -- 21th Round of 2010 Draft
RHP Tyler Bremer -- 36th Round of 2010 Draft
RHP Parker Markel -- 39th Round of 2010 Draft, 32nd Round of 2009 Draft
RHP Casey Upperman -- 47th Round of 2010 Draft, 24th Round of 2009 Draft
RHP James Dykstra -- 50th Round of 2010 Draft, 40th Round of 2009 Draft
RHP Riley Welch -- 34th Round of 2008 Draft
  9. no, but his older brother, 1B Allan Dykstra, went in the 1st Round of the 2008 Draft after 4 years for an ACC team, Wake Forest... Allan was also drafted 34th Round out of high school (2005 Draft). 3x MLB All-Star Lenny Dykstra went in the 13th Round out of high school (1981 Draft).
