THe Tigers handed the Terps their first defeat of the year, 64-51.

This was a game of runs. LSU ended the first half up 29-30 largely on the efforts of Seimone Augustus. But in the second half, Maryland went on a 15-4 run fueled off the interior play of their 6'4" frosh Laura Harper to take a 2 point lead.

    Enter SYLVIA FOWLES.

Fowles who had 3 points and 7 blocks at the half, shut down Harper and scored off a number of putbacks. Fowles finished with 18 points AND 18 boards totally dominating the paint. Seimone led the way with 23 points.

Harper did put up impressing numbers, finishing with 17 points and 16 boards.

Beating a ranked team definitely enhances our tournament resume.

I noticed Texas thumped Tennessee really bad and that UConn also went down hard. Does this mean we will finally have a year in women's basketball where it doesn't come down to the two titans and the outcome is not pre-determined? Is it really anybody's to win this year?

The one thing that bothers me about this team is in every game so far Augustus and Fowles seem to do the majority of the scoring. Hopefully as the season goes on it will be a little more spread out.
