Just looking at a few points for the upcoming season:

    1. Glad we have a team like North Texas coming in for first game. They have been a good 1AA team the past few years and should give LSU a good chance to sharpen their game before Arizona St.

    2. Gives Les Miles a chance to settle in and get used to Tiger Stadium and get comfortable coaching the team.

    3. Jamarcuss Russell and Matt Flynn should both see playing time with Jamarcus in the starter and Matt in the cleanup if everything works to plan.

    4. Crowd will be pumped up and ready for a great season.

    5. Curious to see how our defense will perform out of the gate. Linebackers will need to step up for this to be as good as last 2 years.

    6. Recruiting seems to be off to a great start and if we have the year we are all expecting should do nothing but get better.

Ready for the season to start and get underway.

North Texas isn't a AA school anymore. They switched over around '95.

i think its the other way around rather. I think the team has to adjust and get use to his coaching style. From all I've heard, the team has really taken a liking to his style. He is very approachable and chatty with the players. I think everyone's already onboard, and Les won't have a problem getting the players to put out 110% for him.

Damn, rehashed several threads in one post, good job.

I think all of those things are quite obvious and true but I have to question one statement.

Since we lost only one LB from last season I would think the guys coming back played a big role in last year's defense. Which leads me to believe we aren't in as bad of shape as many think at that spot. I actually think we will be much better at LB myself without Turner on the field, but that is based soley on these guys having a year's experience and all of them being much faster than Lionel, whom I will love forever.

    1. I think North Texas is a great team to open the season with. They have two strong running backs that should test our D-line & their lacking defense should allow our offense to get everything clicking.

    2. I agree that Miles has to get used to coaching in Death Valley & with the new team, but that's nothing to worry about. He should do fine with that. Like Sen-sation said, it will be more about the players adjusting to Miles' game day coaching.

    3. "Jamarcuss Russell and Matt Flynn should both see playing time with Jamarcus in the starter and Matt in the cleanup if everything works to plan." Your plan perhaps. The coaches don't have any such plan as of yet. I expect Russell to start, Flynn to see some action at the end of the 2nd quarter & during the 3rd quarter & hopefully get Perrilloux out there to see what he can do in the 4th.

    4. I think this is the most excited I've ever been going into the season.

    5. I look for our defense to be every bit as talented & effective as 2003's squad. The leadership & players are there. Our new DC is capable. We should be very, very solid.

    6. I'm looking forward to see what Miles can do recruiting at a major University here, as opposed to a step-child one like at OSU. So far, things are looking very good.

I think linebacker is a weakness for this team, but is being exagerrated by some Tiger fans. On the other hand, I think too many people are willing to over look the QB situation. Right now, the QB situation could go either way & is the my main concern for the comming season.

I don't know about that. In about 95% of the expectations I'v eread there is always a large caveat about the QB's stated.

Yes, people mention it. People say, the only uncertainty is QB. But at the same time, people aren't saying exactly how uncertain that position is at this point. People look at how JaMarcus played in the Capital One Bowl & say, yea the QB situation is unsettled but JaMarcus is very capable & is surrounded by good players, so they might not worry about the position as much as I think should be.

Not sure which North Texas you are referring to here, as the team visiting Tiger Stadium on September 3 has been Div 1-A for years now.

I think the most excitement you'll get out of the crowd will be the (a) when Les Miles is first announced as the coach on the PA system, (b) after LSU's first touchdown (of many) and (c) when Perrilloux sets foot on the field in the second half.

    Contained Chaos Don't we all?

Or when Skyler returns the opening kickoff 94 yds for a TD.
