1. Re: From CFN

That was because the computers would never cancel out SEC and Top 25 victories with one I-AA win on the schedule like the AP did last year...
  2. Now that I've looked at the schedule, I'm not so sure that playing App State is such a bad thing. 1st of all, we had 2 open dates in a row and that's not good. 2nd, the game is sandwiched between Florida/Auburn and Bama/Ole Miss. Do we really need a strong non conference foe in that slot? Bama on the road the following week could be one of our toughest (and most meaningful) games of the year. I'll take the patsy that late in the season and let the SOS chips fall where they may. IMO it's only a bad thing if we lose the game. If we're undefeated and USC has one loss, we'll be ahead of them. If USC is undefeated, it wouldn't matter if we scheduled and beat the crap out of the New England Patriots on 11/5. We'd still be sucking hind tit to the Condoms.
  3. I'm not quoting because I disagree on how much this crappy team will effect the BCS because I don't really care about that all that much, I just don't want to play them. But, you may want to read up on the BCS, the AP Poll is no longer part of the system.
  4. I do remember something about that now that you mention it. How will the new formula work or does anyone even know?
  5. Very inefficiently and unfairly.
  6. A couple of additional thoughts on this subject:

    1) Not only does merely playing a Div 1-AA team look bad for a top 5 team like LSU, but the timing is terrible, too. For argument's sake, let's say LSU is rolling along come November 5 and is a perfect 7-0 entering the game.

If that's the case, at worst they'll be #4, probably in the top two (two teams going undefeated wire to wire ranked #1 and #2 all season is pretty rare). If there are two other undefeateds in the Rose Bowl derby, facing a mediocre 1-AA team will look terrible. Right when literally every other team is facing conference foes, LSU gets a creampuff.

    Ugh.

    2) I'm not calling Dan R. a liar or anything but the story spouted by the Athletic Dept the past few months over this sure sounds fishy. I'd read previously that LSU was aiming for "low-level Div 1 teams" to come to Baton Rouge on Nov. 5. Also, apparently 30 or more schools were contacted during this search, most of whom I would assume are such "low-level" teams.

To suggest that LSU contacted 30 schools like UAB, Florida International and their ilk for the past 6 months (or longer, depending on who you believe) and could not fine *any* who were willing to do a one and done appearance in Tiger Stadium, take their beating, and walk away half a million dollars richer?

    Yeah, right. :nope:
  7. well, i certainly would prefer a D1 school also...looking for silver linings, i could't make 4 home games/weekends in a row anyway, so this will make my decision on which game ticket to sell an easy one
