And the reality is that Football National Championships have always been subject to the bias of the press.

    I.E. 1946

Army plays Notre Dame to a scoreless tie.

Notre Dame ends the year at 8-0-1
Army ends the year at 9-0-1

Georgia goes 11-0-0 and shuts out Auburn and Alabama in the process.

    Who gets the NC?

    Notre Dame !

A playoff fixes a legacy of idiocy.

Many college football NCs have been split or disputed over the years. That's why it does not terribly bother me to acknowledge that LSU did not finish #1 in the AP poll after our BCS National Championship season in 2003.
