If he coached TE's for a while, I think I remember hearing that the fans were not very happy with him as a coach.

Terry corrected me. He was an assistant S & C coach at LSU and played DL when he was a player for LSU. I'm not sure if he coached TE's or not.

I wouldn't get too familiar with any of the assistant coaches, as they migrate around a lot--especially under Saban.

Sorry, but you are wrong. There is even a press article from the Louisville QB coach declining Saban's offer. There were many other verbal offers from Saban. Believe what you want.

Maybe officially, but others told Saban I'm not interested.

a lot of coaches during searches publically decline an open job either to get their name out or save face in their own program.

not saying this was the case with you tentex but some of the arguments on here are espn like ones where they ramble on without seeing the real reasons why.

For Bama fans, that does not count.:hihi:

What does it really matter if he was turned down two, three or four times? He's still put together a respectable staff that has a good back ground of success and recruiting at their previous jobs.

Assistants come and go because most are looking for that next step up or next pay hike. Sure, Saban might run through them quicker than others but staffs have turnover (with regards to assistants) all the time. They try to re hire and get turned down once or twice and sometimes they get the first person they ask. That's life. That's business. People turn down jobs for many different reasons. It doesn't give any indication of how good or bad our season will be.

We'll be fine. We're definitely not at the talent level or depth level of LSU, Auburn, Florida but I think we're improving and will be hell to beat before too long.

True, but I have read many Bama post that state that certain coaches were never offered a position and pretended that these offeres never existed. We all know that is BS. Buzzard, you are at least not as delusional as other Bama fans I know or encountered but there are many who are quite the opposite when it comes to facts.

Whether it's BS or not the fact of the matter is it is not that big of a deal. Many of the crap like that you read from Bama fans are the ones who have so much pride that they'll do anything to make it look like someone didn't turn us down because in their minds it makes the program look this way or that. But you know what? Who gives a rats azz? Many good programs get turned down all the time for different reasons. It's usually not personal. But rather their individual life's circumstances. Health, Family, future vision for their career etc.

I know that the assistants we have are capable of putting a competitive product on the field. And the ones that "turned us down" have no impact on the 2007 season. Things like this are petty and have zero impact on the upcoming season. Yet people want to take something so small and make them a big issue.
