Don't know if y'all get to see much of the Titans down there, but Marcus Randall is looking pretty good at safety right now. He's got a good shot at making the team. Made some good hits on special teams and in the secondary. He leveled some dude from the Falcons tonight. Oh, and he was on local radio up here in Nashvegas the other day and they were asking him about the college days and all the big stadiums he's played in on the road and which one was the loudest. Initially, he said Georgia, then he changed his mind and said, "Wait, it's gotta be Auburn. That place gets crazy. Definitely Auburn." Anyway, that made me smile, but his play in these two preseason games is making me smile too. I'm really pulling for him to make it. I think he's gifted enough athletically to pull it off.
I think the Titans love Randall's attitude and his size/athleticism combo. I don't think he has a legitimate shot at the squad this year unless they get extremely thin. I do think he will have an impact a year or two down the road. I've said it before, but it's the nuances of the position that will be gained with experience, and something that will be hard for an NFL GM and/or Coach to take a chance on this year.
We'll see. The things I'm hearing up here seem to indicate he might make the team on special teams and as a 3rd string safety.
Randall was always a running back or a defensive back playing out of position at LSU because we needed depth at quarterback. if he finds his natural position, I think he can play in the NFl and do fine.
Thanks a lot for the post. We don't see enough Titan press. I thought last year that if Randall played in the NFL it would be at safety or RB, most likely safety. He's got good size and speed. He should know what the QB's are trying to do to disguise their routes. I'm pulling for Marcus. I agree with a poster above, he may not make it this year, but need a year to get used to the position. If he makes it this year, I'll be IMPRESSED!
Agree with you whole heartedly. I had my share of concerns with some of Marcus's decisions at QB but he always gave 100% and he played with all he had to give. I hope he makes it because he has the heart alot of players lack. Like the guy in the movie " The Replacements " what we need is loads and loads of heart. It is just as if not more important than talent.
