The Youngsville parade was bigger than I expected. For the past year or two, I've only heard good things about the economy in the Lafayette area (extremely low unemployment) and for the oil & gas industry in general. I live in the Houston area and everyone I know in oil & gas is doing much better than in a long time. Our company has increased from about 600 to 1,000 over the past year with plans to get to about 2,000 over the next 12-24 months (US only). My understanding was that Nola was doing better also but that may have been more related to tourism and hosting all of the big events again.
