Here's a guy who excelled as a sprinter and only played two (I believe this is correct) seasons of college football and went on to have an extremely successful pro career with the Fins. He is being inducted, and rightfully so, into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Another Avoyllles Parish product, no doubt, Chad Lavalais will be inducted some day.

Duper didn't play HS football and only 2 years of college football at Northwestern State. The late Joe Delaney urged him to give football a try.

Duper ran the anchor leg of Northwestern's 1981 NCAA champion 400 meter relay team. Delaney was on that team as well. They ran a 39.32 to win it. Seems like the championships were held at LSU that year but I'm not certain.

Duper was fun to watch. Northwestern has some real burners on the football field during his time. Duper, Delaney, and Victor Oatis come to mind. QB was a dude named Hebert.
