"I definitely look at it as it’s my team, and I’m not going to let one of these young kids take it away from me," Mettenberger said matter-of-factly

"I think I’ve done well this season," said Mettenberger, the former Butler (Kan.) Community College and Georgia transfer. "I think the coaches know I’m the right man for the job."

"It’s not going to be given to me, obviously, because I don’t have much more game experience than those guys. But I think my grasp of the offense is a little more advanced than theirs."

"There’s going to be a lot of expectations, but with the work we’ve put in day in and day out, that’s what we expect when we come to LSU. That’s why we work so hard. I don’t think it would be a big problem for us to be ranked preseason No. 1."

"I’m going to put the work in and try to earn the respect of my teammates."

"It’s an opportunity for one of us to get the keys to a Maserati for our first car," Mettenberger said. "This team is loaded with talent. I think next year can be another special year for us."

And it will be HIS team because he earned it and he knows it. No favoritism or anything like that. He is the best QB for us next year and with that confidence, I bet he plays like it.

Matt Flynn is the last QB who grabbed his sack and said, "Bring it!" Mauck had a similar attitude. Russell and Randall both had the "want" to be starters, but were never leaders.

Great point. This kind of leadership is exactly what we need on Offense!

Jefferson had the attitude too he just couldn't back it up.

    b_leblanc That's just my game...

Jefferson's "attitude" usually consisted of the whiney, bitchy looks on his face, and griping out his teammates.

Until Miles finds a QB that can run the option to the short side of the field for a two yard gain.
