From what I got from Nola.com, the basis of the push back is that the plan they agreed upon didn't have him winning the national title. So basically, they scrapped the plan that was going to be reviewed on Dec. 6th and the board doesn't meet again until late January. Being Les got the team to the title game and he could win it, his current contract (correct me if I'm wrong) has guaranteed money for winning the BCSNC.

So in light of all this, they squashed the other one so that if they do win they could get Les the proper money he deserves and what not. Also I heard on a couple sports radio shows here that he did sign a thing saying that if he pulled a Saban he had to pay the school close to 8 million dollars. I don't know if that holds water more than a paper bag, but that is the word that is out.

This is no big deal. It usually takes a while to iron out a contract. Barring some huge unforseen event, he's not going anywhere, and he'll sign when they get all the fine details ironed out.

winning a national title puts a coach in a "new bracket" of pay, so to speak, and Miles just doesn't want to box himself into a deal that would be outdated in a month or so from now.

but he will probably get the Saban treatment and get the "penny more" than the second highest paid SEC coach if LSU wins the 'ship.

The reason why I say the 2nd highest paid is b/c I don't think they can afford to give him the absurd amount Alabama pays their coaches to go 6-7.

Yeah, they said something about how he has to be paid more than the third highest paid in the country should he win the game. But I'm no contract expert.

all of that sounds about right. Everything from here on out is pretty much hearsay, only thing you can count on is, we are playing for the title.
